Mir ist noch was eingefallen in Sachen Ralph und Amanda Harlech. Erinnert Ihr Euch, dass Ralph letztes oder vorletztes Jahr bei einem Karl Lagerfeld Event war (mir fällt der Name nicht mehr ein)? Das macht jetzt im Nachhinein Sinn, da Amanda ja wohl Lagerfelds "Muse" ist und deshalb wahrscheinlich auch dort war.

During your stay in Belgrade you received Golden Stamp award. How much does it mean to you?

I’m honored to have it because I can see I’m in great company. I’ve been in Belgrade three times so far and every time I felt your hospitality. I always felt my work could be better and this is big encouragement.

In “The Reader”, movie that opened this year’s FEST, you play Michael, man with dark secret of his ex-love Hanna.

He is very lonely man and during nine months of filming, I felt his suffering and pain. It wasn’t easy to play him. There are some events in the movie which gave him strength, but these situations were rear.

Your co actress Kate Winslet got Oscar for this part. What was the collaboration with her like?

Kate is phenomenal person and I’ve been admirer of her for so long. I always wanted to shoot at least one scene with her. She made this movie special and I think it was big challenge for her.

Why did you accept the role?

Ten years ago, my friend and sadly late producer of this movie Minghella gave me the book. At that time Michael’s moral dilemma left a big impression on me, but I wondered why I got this book. It became clear years later when I got the part in the movie.

Why have you chosen Belgrade to film your directorial debut Coriolanus?

I’m thrilled by professionalism of the people in your country which can be compared with American’s. I scouted some locations in Belgrade and I really liked them.

Your brother Joseph is also successful actor and many other members of your family are in film industry. Do you like working with them?

Of course, it’s always a pleasure. It’s nice to have family members in same or similar profession, although sometimes I don’t like when they justifiably critise me. Thank God, I have large family, and among them there are those who are not “infected” with film making.

Although a lot has been written about your love life, you never talked about relationship with college Alex Kingston and that you left her for 17 years older Francesca Annis?

I didn’t start acting to have my personal life dragged through newspapers, so I fell no need to talk about my relationships.
