Ralph plant anscheinend eine Filmversion von Coriolanus (das Shakespeare-Stück, in dem er in den 90ern gespielt hat). Ich frage mich, ob er Snow Country gecancelt hat...man hat ja schon 'ne ganze Weile nichts mehr davon gehört.

Anscheinend war er in Bosnien und hatte dort ein ziemlich unerfreuliches Erlebnis. Vielleicht sollte er die Dreharbeiten lieber in ein zivilisiertes Land verlegen.

British Actor Verbally Assaulted in Bosnia

11 July 2008 Sarajevo _ The well known British actor Ralph Fiennes was verbally assaulted in the southern town of Mostar after mentioning a Croatian general on trial for war crimes.
The incident, reported by Bosnian media on Friday, reflects still lingering ethnic and political tensions in the country. During Bosnia’s 1992-1995 war, Bosnian Croats and Bosniaks – although initially allied against Bosnian Serbs – fought a vicious campaign against each other for a year. Mostar was one of the focal points of this clash.

Fiennes, who is well known for his roles in movies such as the English Patient and Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List, has been touring the Croatian coast and Bosnia for the past few days in search of a location for his new movie.

On Wednesday he visited Mostar where he dined at a local restaurant in the eastern, Bosniak-dominated part of the town. In the discussion over the lunch, he asked his local counterparts about the Croatian general Ante Gotovina, whose pictures he saw in the Croatian town of Split. Gotovina is currently under trial for war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia in the Hague.

Bosnian actor and producer Miro Barnjak, who was accompanying Fiennes, told Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz that a younger man sitting at the next table warned them that political topics were not allowed in the restaurant. As they disregarded the warning, the man stood up and verbally assaulted the group, telling them they are not allowed to talk about Croatian generals there.

“We were shocked,” Barnjak said, adding that following the incident Fiennes and his entourage left the restaurant.

er kann doch wieder in babelsberg drehen oder ist ihm das zu teuer? ich glaube, snow country ist im wahrsten sinne des wortes auf eis gelegt, sonst wären doch mal ein paar neuigkeiten durchgesickert.

coriolanus war doch das stück, wo er in militärklamotten zu sehen war oder? na schade, dass er nur regie führen und nicht mitspielen wird.

Meinst Du im Tarnanzug? Den hatte er in JC zeitweise auch an...sah ziemlich scharf aus.

BTW, ich glaube schon, dass er mitspielt. Die schreiben "which he will direct and star in with Vanessa Redgrave."

ACTOR Ralph Fiennes had to flee a mob in a Bosnian restaurant after he began talking about local politics.

Fiennes was in the city of Mostar when he spotted a poster of Croatian general Anto Gotovina.

Gotovina faces war crime charges but is a Croat hero.

One local said: "He started talking about war crimes. Visitors shouldn't get involved."

He was confronted by a group of students at a nearby table.

One of Fiennes companions said: "It was very unpleasant."

Ich glaube, er hat sich die Haare für "First Love" kurz schneiden lassen. Das war irgendwann im Juli, sein Trip nach Serbien war kurz vorher (zwischen GoC und First Love).
