(...)The end of 2009 brought news of a film called My Week with Marilyn, based on the book with the same name by Colin Clark, which focuses on a very short time Marilyn spent in London filming Laurence Olivier’s The Prince and the Showgirl in 1957.
British television director Simon Curtis will get behind the camera for this flick with the Weinstein Company producing. While it was rumoured Scarlett Johansson would take on the role of Monroe at the start Ain’t it Cool report she passed, considering playing her to be a “thankless task”. Michelle Williams is instead (if Johansson was ever attached) set to star. Ralph Fiennes was also cast but dropped out to direct Coriolanus instead. Production is due to start September.
