Ralph Fiennes: I was the victim
By Fiona Hudson

February 18, 2007 12:00
ACTOR Ralph Fiennes considers himself to have been the victim of a sexual aggressor in an alleged mile-high sex scandal.

Yesterday, the media-shy film star's personal publicist angrily broke a week-long silence from the Fiennes camp to tell the actor's side of an increasingly sordid story.

Media manager Sara Keene declared flight attendant Lisa Robertson had instigated the incident in a toilet cubicle of a Qantas flight between Darwin and Mumbai.

"She initiated the encounter,'' Ms Keene said, in the first confirmation from the Fiennes camp that an incident did occur.

"This woman seduced him on a plane. She was the sexual aggressor.

"Yet she said in her official statement (to Qantas) that he had initiated it ... and virtually accused him of forcing himself upon her.''

Asked if this meant Fiennes considered himself blameless, his PR manager reverted to her standard line: "I never comment on his personal life. I wouldn't comment on his actions.''

Ms Keene also refused to either confirm or deny allegations that a relationship between Fiennes, 44, and Ms Robertson, 38, had continued once the plane touched down.

Asked if Fiennes could have turned down an apparent offer to join Ms Robertson in the toilet cubicle, Ms Keene said: "Of course he could have said no.

"The point I am making is that she initiated it. He didn't force himself upon her.''

As fall-out from the incident continued, Fiennes held early-morning crisis talks with his London-based publicist from his hotel room in Bruges, where he is shooting a film with Hollywood bad boy Colin Farrell.

Ms Keene - who represents other celebrity clients including Jude Law and Kate Winslet - said Fiennes should not be expected to make any comment in defence of the honour of Ms Robertson.
And he should feel no guilt if Ms Robertson was sacked by Qantas or had to resign, she said.

Ms Keene said the flight attendant had changed her version of events at least twice, and had sold versions of her story to the highest bidder while Fiennes had kept a dignified silence.

"If you paid all the money in the world, it wouldn't buy him,'' Ms Keene said of her client.

"There's not enough money in the world that will make him respond in person.

"He never has, and he's never going to. The story is over now, as far as we are concerned.''

The actor spent the evening standing in a picturesque market square in Bruges watching mate Farrell and a female co-star kiss for the cameras.

A relaxed Fiennes smiled broadly as the director offered Farrell, a notorious ladies' man, and his co-star hints on how to smooch better.

Ms Keen said she was personally angry at the way Ms Robertson had acted.

"I'm glad she's telling the truth at last. They are my words, not Ralph's,'' she said.

Ms Keen said she expected Sunday papers in Britain to carry further damaging claims from Ms Robertson against the star of The English Patient.

In all her years representing Fiennes - including two particularly dramatic break-ups - Ms Keene has rarely unleashed such a vigorous defence of the star.

Until now, her public statements since the incident hit the media spotlight have been restricted to a curt "No comment''.

Fiennes refused to comment when approached yesterday.

18 February 2007
HE TURNED HIS BACK ON ME..
FIENNES AND THE STEWARDESS

FIVE days after their fling heartbroken Lisa rang Fiennes and left a message asking him to help her keep her job.

He rang her back - but refused to help. "I told him I was in a lot of trouble," she said. "There was silence of the other end. I told him there were people who had seen us leaving the toilet, but all he said was, 'Nothing happened'.

"I told him we had been seen and I had been reported. But he kept saying, 'We weren't in the toilet'. It was clear he was just turning his back on me.

"He said, 'We don't know each other very well. I'm very sorry, I can't get involved. I can't help you'.

I was desperate and suggested we said I was doing something like helping him with a contact lens. But he wouldn't agree."

Then Fiennes went into a monologue about HIS problems, saying he hadn't been able to sleep after hearing she wanted to speak to him.

"He said, 'You're an air hostess, I'm sure you'll be able to get another job'. Then he said, 'I'll call you in a month's time'."

That was three weeks ago...

Was denkt die eigentlich???

15 minutes of mile-high fame
Sally Morrell
February 22, 2007 12:00am

SALLY Morrell writes: THANKS a lot, Lisa Robertson.
No, really, I'm ever so grateful.

The former Qantas stewardess has given gossip lovers across Australia a hell of a fun ride this week.

It doesn't get much better.

A famous face we thought was way above such things, a mile-high toilet tussle and now a tawdry tell-all that sounds like it's straight off the pages of a Mills and Boon novel.

("He was caressing my neck, holding my head and he started undoing the buttons on my dress . . Ralph was the best lover I've ever had.")

But, for me, what's made it really rolled gold goss is that both the participants are sane, single and there's not a child or newborn between them.

For once, nobody is getting hurt. We can revel in all the tacky details without a shred of guilt.

Such a relief, given how unpleasant gossiping about celebrities has been lately.

I used to take an interest in the latest on Britney Spears but now that she has two young children it's just too depressing to see her unravel before our eyes.

As for Anna Nicole Smith, I stopped reading about her years ago.

But Lisa and Ralph?

Let the laughs roll.

And, let's face it, there's an awful lot to laugh about.

I especially loved the idea that it was mutual attraction, or as Lisa put it: "The chemistry between us was amazing."

I'm pretty confident the only chemistry was coming from Lisa and it's called fan frenzy.

Ralph seemed to be operating only under the influence of testosterone and shiraz.

It's easy to think that the only person to lose out was Lisa, who was sacked by Qantas on Monday.

But I think she's the winner and Ralph has been hurt.

Lisa got to have sex with Count Laszlo de Almasy, the lead character in that ever so romantic movie The English Patient, which she confesses she has seen 20 times.

She knew she could lose her job over it. "I thought if I was going to get the sack, it would be worth it," she said.

And it has proved worth it in more ways than she thought.

Lisa was paid a lot of money for tell-all interviews in the British papers. Probably more than she makes in a year serving coffee and tea sky-high.

But Ralph? It's not looking that good for him.

How can we be expected to fall in love with him as the romantic lead in his next chick flick when we know he's the king of the kiss-off?

After their four-times-in-one-night rendezvous in his suite at the Mumbai Intercontinental, Lisa said: "I could have stayed there for days but before we went back to sleep again, Ralph told me: 'I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to kick you out in the morning'."

What class.

And then after she contacted him a month later in the hope of concocting some alibi he gave her yet another fond farewell.

"We don't know each other very well.' he said. "I'm very sorry. I can't get involved.

"I can't help you," he told her coldly. Talk about a sensitive new age guy.

T O make matters worse, when the story broke he dragged out his publicist to say the actor had been the victim of a "sexual aggressor".

Not quite the actions of a romantic hero.

Lucky his next movie has him playing the gay butler of heiress Doris Duke.

We might see a bit more of Lisa, maybe as a Playboy centrefold or as a celebrity intruder on Big Brother.

But I suspect this is her 15 minutes of fame and time's almost up.

Thanks again, Lisa.

It has been a hoot.

New twist in mile-high sex scandal
Rachel Browne
February 25, 2007

THE Qantas flight attendant at the centre of a mile-high sex scandal with actor Ralph Fiennes has been paid to tell her story on 60 Minutes tonight.

Lisa Robertson, whose toilet tryst with Fiennes earned her the sack last week, recorded her interview with 60 Minutes reporter Peter Overton on Thursday.

The recording took place at The Sebel Manly Beach hotel, with 38-year-old Robertson making dramatic new claims about what happened at 30,000 feet.

"There's a new twist in the mile-high sex scandal," a 60 Minutes spokeswoman said.

"Lisa Robertson makes a revelation towards the end of the interview which shocked Peter Overton."

Robertson's interview will go to air on the Channel Nine current affairs flagship program after two weeks of furious bidding for her story.

She sold her first print interview to Britain's The Mail On Sunday, which published the sordid details of the former undercover police officer's 15-minute fling with the actor last week.

In the story, she recounted how the pair met on board Qantas flight 123 from Darwin to Mumbai on January 24 and said she felt an instant attraction to the star of The English Patient, Schindler's List and the Harry Potter movies.

After talking to her during her break, she led him into a toilet cubicle where the pair had unprotected sex.

They later hooked up for a night of passion in Fiennes's Mumbai hotel room with the actor telling her he would see her on "the next Qantas flight".

Two days later Robertson was suspended from her job and initially denied the encounter took place.

But she changed her story and engaged a media agent once a bidding war for the rights to tell her tale got under way.

While Robertson pocketed $100,000 for the print rights to her story it is understood that she received considerably less from Channel Nine.

"There's a new twist in the mile-high sex scandal," a 60 Minutes spokeswoman said.

"Lisa Robertson makes a revelation towards the end of the interview which shocked Peter Overton."
